Lifesaving Instructor Condensed Course

Service Description

Welcome to our condensed Lifesaving Instructor course! Over the course of 20 hours we will train you on everything you need to know to become a full-fledged swim and lifesaving instructor! We will start over Zoom, working on lesson plans and best practices, as well as some theoretical foundations. After that we will jump right into the water, getting practical experience in instructing and putting our lesson plans to the test. We will also work on demonstrating the proper skill and stroke knowledge. All participants will be required to sign a waiver before the course begins (or have a parent or guardian sign it if the candidate is under the age of 18). Prerequisites: 15 years of age and Bronze Cross. Proof of prerequisites must be received before the first day of the course and can be sent to info@ottawalifesavingcourses.com. Course delivery method: 9 hours online, 11 hours in pool. 100% attendance is required to pass. Recertification: Must be recertified every two years. Stuff to Bring: whistle, towel, Instructor's Course Pack, goggles (optional), bathing suit, pen and paper, snacks Resources: The Instructor's Course Pack must be in your possession on the first day of the course. We recommend ordering from the Lifeguard Depot, the Lifesaving Society's official site. It is important to note however that it can take up to 5 business days for the books to be delivered. If you are within that time frame or would simply prefer it, books can be ordered through this site's "resources" tab and will be made available to you on the first day of the course. Note: Whistles can be purchased from us as well if you do not have your own. If purchased with Swim Instructor course, total cost is $500 (not $600). Go to separate course offering for this.
